Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 23, 2026

Downtime is designed with privacy as a core product choice. This policy explains how your data is handled when you use the app.

Data Storage

All your blocking rules, schedules, and app selections are stored locally on your device. Downtime does not transmit this data automatically. Data leaves your device only when you explicitly choose to export or share it, such as when sending optional feedback diagnostics.

Data Collection

Downtime has no user accounts and does not automatically collect personal information. We do not operate analytics or tracking servers. If you contact support, we receive only the information you choose to send, which may include your email address, your message, and an optional diagnostic report.

Screen Time & FamilyControls

Downtime uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity) to apply app blocking schedules. All Screen Time data is processed entirely on your device by iOS. Downtime cannot see which specific apps you use or for how long — it only knows the opaque tokens you select for blocking.

Analytics & Tracking

Downtime does not include any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising frameworks. We do not use cookies, fingerprinting, or any other tracking technology.

Optional Feedback & Diagnostic Reports

When you select Send Feedback, Downtime lets you choose whether to include a diagnostic report. The report is generated locally on your device and contains device and app versions, locale and time zone, blocking and schedule state, event timestamps, and shortened hashes of opaque Screen Time identifiers. It does not contain app names, website addresses, browsing history, or raw Screen Time tokens.

Nothing is sent automatically. You can send feedback without the report, save the report for your own review, or choose to attach it to an email. Your email provider processes any message you send under its own privacy terms.

Support messages and diagnostic reports are used only to respond to your request, investigate technical issues, and improve Downtime. They are never used for advertising or tracking. We retain them only for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the support request and maintain relevant support records, after which they are deleted.

Data Control

You have full control over your data. You can export your configuration as a JSON file for backup and delete locally stored data by removing the app from your device. You can ask us to delete support emails or diagnostic reports you previously sent by contacting isemailfine@gmail.com from the same email address.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the changes will be reflected here with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
